Amazon Rainforest Tours - Tambopata Adventures from Puerto Maldonado
Deep-wildlife encounters: Lake Sandoval, Monkey Island, macaw clay-licks, night walks & more.
Join expert local guides on small-group adventures into the Tambopata rainforest — paddle tranquil oxbow lakes, meet playful primates on Monkey Island, watch macaws and parrots gather at clay licks, and explore the jungle after dark on guided night walks. All trips depart from Puerto Maldonado.
The Tambopata region is one of the Amazon’s most biodiverse areas and an ideal base for wildlife immersion trips. Our Amazon Rainforest Tours focus on authentic, responsible encounters: guided boat rides and hikes to Lake Sandoval, close primate visits at Monkey Island, spectacular morning gatherings at macaw and parrot clay licks, and nocturnal walks to spot frogs, insects and night mammals. Tours depart from Puerto Maldonado (flight or overland access from Lima or Cusco).

How to get there
Most guests fly into Puerto Maldonado (Padre Aldamiz Airport) from Lima (or connect via Cusco) and transfer by boat to the lodges that operate within Tambopata. Overland/bus options exist between Cusco and Puerto Maldonado for travelers on a budget.
Wildlife & biodiversity
Tambopata is a biodiversity hotspot — expect macaws, parrots, toucans, countless songbirds, squirrel monkeys, capuchins, howler monkeys, giant river otters, caimans, anteaters (rare), and a huge variety of amphibians, insects and plant life. The macaw clay-licks and Lake Sandoval are especially important wildlife hotspots.
Sustainability & responsible travel
We prioritize low-impact operations: small groups, local guides, support for conservation and community projects, and strict wildlife viewing guidelines (no feeding, maintain distance, follow guides’ directions). Guests are briefed on how to minimize their footprint. Highlight any lodge certifications or community partnerships you have.
