How to get there

Most guests fly into Puerto Maldonado (Padre Aldamiz Airport) from Lima (or connect via Cusco) and transfer by boat to the lodges that operate within Tambopata. Overland/bus options exist between Cusco and Puerto Maldonado for travelers on a budget.

Wildlife & biodiversity

Tambopata is a biodiversity hotspot — expect macaws, parrots, toucans, countless songbirds, squirrel monkeys, capuchins, howler monkeys, giant river otters, caimans, anteaters (rare), and a huge variety of amphibians, insects and plant life. The macaw clay-licks and Lake Sandoval are especially important wildlife hotspots.

Sustainability & responsible travel

We prioritize low-impact operations: small groups, local guides, support for conservation and community projects, and strict wildlife viewing guidelines (no feeding, maintain distance, follow guides’ directions). Guests are briefed on how to minimize their footprint. Highlight any lodge certifications or community partnerships you have.
